Is it temporary, or is this the new price? Hard to say, but we have pointed out recently that Sony made the decision to drop the price of the PS4 selection earlier this month to compete against Microsoft as the holidays approach. We pondered how Microsoft may respond to this. This may be their move. Microsoft dropped the price of the Kinect bundle (500GB storage) from $499 to $399. A great way to stick it to Sony since they also have the best looking custom bundle this holiday–the Halo 5 Guardians bundle.
At the moment, the price drop doesn’t extend past the main Kinect bundle, so it’s hard to predict if MS plans to move further with it or crank the price back up shortly after. I know myself, if the Halo 5 bundle drops to the same price, I’ll be all over it myself.
We’ve also been told that the price of the Kinect itself has also dropped to $99 at limited locations, in case you’re in the need for just the Kinect. Currently, the only places we have seen it is physically at Fry’s Electronics and online via the Microsoft Store.
