As a very interesting move by Microsoft, they have announced that they will not only allow licensed users of previous Windows 7 or later users to upgrade to Windows 10 for free (when it becomes available sometime this summer or later), but now also unlicensed users are supposedly getting the same privileges.
This is an attempt to fight back against the pirate industry as there are potentially millions of users in the world that are running on a pirated copy of some version of Windows or another.
The PCs will still be considered unlicensed, therefore will continue not having direct technical support by Microsoft, but it at least opens a window to bring even that side of the world “up-to-date” and protect them one step further against exploitable outdated software (minus the technical support).
This should shake up the scene even more when it launches since Android has been the only (consumer popular) OS to offer free installation for devices, creating a strong interest in device manufacturers and users alike.
