MSI has a powerful new NVMe drive for your computer that requires a sufficient amount of space to host. This means it won’t be running within your PS5 ever. But for PC configurations that have the space for it, it could bring some impressive transfer speeds to those that need it.
The company has introduced its new SPATIUM M580 FROZR PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD. An NVMe that sports a massive passive-cooled heatsink solution that looks like it came from a company like Noctoa. It’s a massive aluminum tower tasked with bringing temperatures down (up to 20 degrees Celsius) as the drive provides as much as 14.6 GB/s transfer speeds.
Specifically, it promises read speeds of up to 14.6 GB/s and write speeds of up to 12.7 GB/s. Making it one of the fastest options in the market. It will be available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities, and will clearly be aiming at serious enthusiasts.
It really is a large heatsink though. So you wouldn’t be taking advantage of your motherboard’s built-in heatsink solutions. It will be sticking out far enough to consider what’s sharing the immediate space around the motherboard (video card, expansion cards, etc). But when it comes to NVMe, every degree of cooling helps.
MSI hasn’t shared a release date or price point just yet. But it will (clearly) be coming out this year and (hopefully) within the next quarter to capture some of that summer business and to help shake up the SSD market some more.
MSI products can be found via retailers like Amazon, Newegg, and Best Buy.
