Cyber Monday continues the sales madness, carrying the torch from Black Friday a few days further. Normally, it is a time focusing on software, games, and other digital content with some tech thrown about. However, it has basically turned into being part of a Black Friday. That being said, there are sales all over, and Chamberlain is looking to cash in on this by pricing its myQ at a tempting amount.
Normally closer to $30, the myQ Chamberlain Smart Garage Controller Hub (via Amazon) gives your garage door some smarts. Allowing you to control it from anywhere in the world using the myQ app. What has made it so popular since it first launched is its user-friendliness and affordability (to purchase). Now, it is even more affordable on sale for just $17.48 (at the time of writing this).
It doesn’t take much effort for the user to get things up and running. All you need is some basic skills to wire it in-line with your garage door opener, slap a sensor on the door at a given location from it, and download the app.
It actually used to be even cooler, offering API access so that you could integrate it in many ways with various smart home ecosystems like Home Assistant. However, the company has been on a rampage cutting everyone else out so that you can only use it via their setup or expensive integrations with companies like Tesla. So this might be the reasoning behind the fantastic price tag.
If you are simply looking to control your garage door from an app, adding some peace of mind with knowing that you didn’t forget to close it (or if you did, you don’t have to go back to do so), or looking to remotely open it for guests or deliveries like you would a smart lock on your front door, it’s a fantastic buy at this price.
If you are looking for a way to easily integrate your garage door with your smart home hub (like HA, SmartThings, etc), you may want to look for something a little more “open” to third-party integration.

I got one. It’s one of the only things I automated in my house as its easy enough to manually click a switch on the wall. Plus its less labor keeping up with everything. But the garage door is a big one as I have left it open before. So this makes nice on that.
