Microsoft has come out with the details of a new laptop that will be launching this June. The announcement came today at an event in New York City, detailing the new addition to the Surface family. Microsoft’s Surface Laptop brings the customization of the Surface line to laptop form, offering multiple colors (Platinum, Burgundy, Cobalt Blue and Graphite Gold) and processor options to choose from.
Intel’s 7th generation Core processors are packed inside the new series, taking advantage of the powerful resources that come with them, as well as a reach for longer battery life. Weight falls under 3lbs making the new laptops perfect for travel and a 13.5-inch PixelSense screen. Additional features include Dolby audio and a unique Alcantara fabric keyboard.
The new laptops are both thin and light, adding to the competition in this category, including products like Apple’s MacBook Air and various Windows ultrabooks from other manufacturers. Microsoft and Intel are promising up to 14 hours or more of battery life, which is fantastic if they can pull it off. Beats the pants off of the model I am using right now at my desk, which promises over 6 hours and I typically get just slightly more than 4. So I personally will be rooting for them to pull this off as it will help stir the market some more, and possibly even create yet another customer out of me.
The exact launch date will be June 15th (2017) and you can currently pre-order a model of your own via Microsoft’s website.
