Nintendo has come out with the fact that their new console, the Switch, will not be launching with support for your favorite streaming applications such as Netflix. Nintendo instead chose to focus strictly on gaming this time around.
Although, this may be a bummer to some, Nintendo really does need to focus their attention to the detail of their games because they have been losing far too much steam over recent years. For some, the magic of Nintendo has never been the same since the the years of N64 and earlier. GameCube was a decent attempt but it just didn’t have a strong enough library that Nintendo followers have grown to love.
They used to be the Disney of gaming, not limited to an attempt to milk their top franchises like Mario and Zelda. Hopefully they will be able to find their inner-self once again with the new console and bring back all of the qualities they used to offer, while also creating a unique foundation that isn’t trying to mimic other consoles.
Or, maybe I am shooting way too far off with this one, and they are simply trying to rush the console to the market and worry about features later. Nintendo has pointed out that they will consider the option of adding streaming solutions in the future.
As for now though, it seems the Nintendo Classic is getting far more attention than their Wii systems ever have.
So what do you think about the new system? Does it sound hopeful? Or do you think Nintendo is going to shoot themselves in the foot again?
