Competition is revving up (or more like spinning up) as additional names join the EV race toward pushing away from gas engines. Now, Nio is the latest to launch something into the market. The new Nio ES7, an all-electric SUV, is a new model coming from the Chine-based EV company. Looking to get some of that attention that companies like Tesla have been rolling around in.
Like some of the more attractive models out there, the new SUV comes with a number of impressive features that should lead to plenty of success (assuming they deliver as well as they do on paper). This includes Nio’s own autonomous driving software that the company has been working on.
It will be available in three battery/distance packages, including 485 kilometers (301 miles), 620 kilometers (385 miles), and an impressive 930 kilometers (577 miles). The latter of which will cause a lot of heads to turn if it can actually deliver such a distance. This has been one of the hardest challenges that EV manufacturers have run into with current and upcoming models. Most not being able to keep up with the likes of Tesla. Not only that, but 577 miles would blow past the limits of any Tesla vehicle (for now).
To make things sound even more exciting, the average price range seems to fall between/around $69K and $78K (before taxes/subsidiaries), which is fantastic given the distance being promised.
The new EV features a 23-speaker system inside, providing a full surround experience for the driver, along with AR/VR capabilities. It also comes with a dual-screen design. As well as seats that feature heating, cooling, and massage options.
It really does sound like an exciting vehicle, and for the price point, it will definitely shake things up. Forcing the competition to find new ways to try to shake things up and steal some of that attention back.
There is no specific word on when the company plans to expand to additional countries, including here in North America. However, it does plan on doing so in the coming future. You can learn more about the model here on Nio’s website.
