Noctua has reigned champion for some time now when it comes to the best fans you can stick inside of a computer. These fans not only (usually) conquer the test of time, but generally offer some of the best cooling with minimal noise levels. Now the company is expanding its lineup with new products that move beyond the computer with its new “Home” series for DIY fans (pun intended).
The new series focuses on other uses around the home or office, including a new $99 Noctua NV-FS1 Desk Fan that can also be bought in a modular fashion, including the mount, fan controller, and hood (or “airflow amplifier”). With either a 120mm or 140mm fan tucked into the build, it can sit on a desk or be mounted to a surface (ie, wall or ceiling) to help keep you cool.
You’ll also find the new $79 Noctua NV-FS2 fans that can be used to lay next to, in front of, or on top of other devices to help reduce heat. They come with gaskets, pads, and a speed controller. Allowing users to make use of some of the quietest fans out there to cool things like receivers, video game consoles, routers, and more.
That last one is a popular solution/idea that has been made available via retailers like Amazon by other brands (mostly international, and usually not nearly as quiet as Noctua is known for). I know because we have a lot of external fan solutions blowing around the office here (and I have a few at home as well). I am sure none of them will be as impressive as Noctua’s line though.
The lineup comes with a number of other modular accessories that you can pick through for your projects. It is likely just the start of things to come if these take off as well as the company’s other products. You can find the whole Home series here on Amazon.
Of course, going with one of these does mean that you’ll face a higher price tag than some of those other brands. Noctua is not known for being cheap. But when it comes to heatsinks and fans, they deliver some of the best results in their categories. So you can bet that these products will continue that reputation all the same (at least, I would hope).
