The founder of Oculus VR (Palmer Luckey) is being sued by a company located in Hawaii known as Total Recall Technologies–which he used to be an employee of 4 years ago. They claim he violated a confidentiality agreement by taking information related to a similar project to start his own company, Oculus VR, makers of the Oculus Rift. He was originally hired by Total Recall Technologies to create a similar product and technology.
TRT is now seeking compensation for this breach of contract, in an amount that is currently undisclosed. This of course wouldn’t be the first time someone left a company with stolen secrets to create a profit line of their own with, but it is always sad to hear about it when it involves something related to a major evolution in today’s technology (or at the least the start of something big).
Of course, as anyone else, Luckey is innocent until proven guilty right? So maybe there was never a breach and this is only a cowardly attempt for TRT to get some media attention. Or, maybe Luckey truly did do something he shouldn’t have (something that could cost him and the company a lot of money, and maybe a loss of certain patent rights?).
