Have you ever dreamed of having the ultimate life-size image for your gaming needs? If so, you likely ran into the idea of buying into projection until someone points out that most projectors have more latency than your online games are going to work well with. Latency is a gamer’s worst enemy and projectors are plagued with it. However, thanks to companies like Optoma, this has been changing.
Optoma has unveiled two models that are centered around just this. They aren’t the first of their kind, but they do feature some of the best numbers. These models include the new Optoma UHD35 & UHD38 4K UHD projectors.
What makes these two models special is that they can deliver your favorite games to you at up to 240Hz (refresh rate)and as little as 4.2ms latency with Enhanced Gaming Mode enabled. This, of course, is based on perfect scenario settings with a 1080p resolution, PC gaming, and with Enhanced Gaming Mode enabled, some other projector features are disabled to allow it to keep up at such a pace. That latter part is more than common with any TV or projector when enabling any built-in “gaming modes”. Switching the resolution up to 4K will drop your refresh and increase the latency a little.
Switching things to a gaming console (ie, Microsoft Xbox Series X|S and Sony Playstation 5) will drop these specs down further, yet while also maintaining some good numbers. The refresh will drop down to 60Hz for 4K and 120Hz for 1080p, but the latency will still be around 16.7ms worst-case scenario. Making for one powerful gaming projector.
Like most powerful projectors, it can provide you a 4K image up to 300-inches in size. For brightness, you get between 3600 (UHD35) and 4000 (UHD38) lumens depending on the model. So they might be a bit pricier than some of the TVs out there, but they can provide a much larger image and the price still isn’t bad. The Optoma UHD35 retails for $1,299 while the Optoma UHD38 retails for $1,399. This is actually quite affordable for such powerful projectors.
So get your 4K game on with Otpoma’s new projectors. Great for console gaming and even better for PC gaming.
