Everyone enjoys putting a little zoom into their setup. Using options like Thunderbolt helps to bring faster transfer rates and more connectivity than ever, and OWC has yet another docking station to do just that. It is the OWC Thunderbolt Go Dock and it comes with some new features from past models.
One of the most notable options is that the company has done away with the power brick and built the power supply right into the dock. This will make the dock a little heavier than normal but should also reduce the footprint for travel. The cable it comes with is just a simple power cord between the dock and the wall.
The dock features 11 ports, including one SD card slot, three USB-A ports, one USB-C port, a headphone/mic combo jack, an HDMI port capable of up to 8K resolutions, a 2.5G Ethernet port, and two Thunderbolt ports (one to connect to your computer and the other for connecting to another Thunderbolt device.
It also features up to 90W of power delivery to connected devices. Allowing you to keep most laptops and other mobile devices charged. Along with a slot to connect a Kensington lock so that it can be tethered down to where it is being used.
As always, it is nice to see the company going with something faster than your typical 1Gbps Ethernet port. To remain modern and notable compared to other options, it’s important to keep up with the ever-growing demand for increased data speeds. Even more so as the world slowly transitions to multi-gigabit internet connections.
Pre-orders should begin today at OWC’s website and the company plans to start shipping in April.
