It looks like PayPal has made the move to drop support for all mobile OS’s outside of Android and iOS. This means they will be dropping support for Windows Phone (doh!), BlackBerry (understandable) and Amazon Fire (also understandable). They recently announced this information in a recent blog post of theirs.
PayPal apparently feels there isn’t enough market share in the other categories to justify maintaining support for the other OS devices.
This change will take place on June 30th (next month), leaving users of these other OS options stuck with having to use the website to fulfill any of their PayPal needs through their browser. They will also continue to support the PayPal plugin for Outlook.
Hopefully since this would also halt their support of PayPal Here card swipers on these devices, they may consider making a comeback of the market share increases for Windows Phone (which hasn’t been seeing the growth they have been hoping for just yet).
