Phyn, a company dedicated to intelligent water monitoring and leak detection has added a new product to its lineup. The new Phyn Smart Water Sensor allows you to place a sensor anywhere in the home that will alert you to any detected leaks.
The sensor works like any other water sensor where it sits on a flat surface where water could potentially collect due to a leak. This means next to a water heater or softener, or under your sink, or next to a washing machine. If water comes into contact with the sensors, it will then immediately ping the app through the cloud where you can be notified that a leak is present. This allows you to quickly take action or even shut off your water main coming into the house depending on how complex your smart home system is run out (ie, if you have Phyn’s Smart Water Assistant and Shutoff unit).
In addition to water detection, the sensor also features temperature and humidity alerts as well. It can warn you when temperatures reach freezing levels or if the humidity levels become a concern. The app will provide you with a history of everything that can be tracked at any time.
It features two optional accessories that allow you to extend the detection area into a hard-to-reach area, like under a washing machine or refrigerator (Water Sensor Extension Node) and or expand on the detection area completely (Water Sensor Cable) by adding a cable that can extend up to 4ft+ from the main sensor, allowing the entire area to become sensitive to water (the cable itself is the sensor).
The new Smart Water Sensor and accessories are making the rounds into the market and will be able to be found at retail chains that commonly offer Phyn products (links below). The Smart Water Sensor will feature an MSRP of $39.99.
