Electric vehicles (EVs) are taking over the industry as many drivers move toward energy-efficient gas alternatives. What has been a slow adaptation these past 10 years is now moving at speeds where countries and US states are considering or already pushing ahead with transitionary changes in the law to weed out gas (ICE) vehicles.
With that, come policy changes with federal and state departments to adapt to these changes all the same. Therefore, police departments across the country have been considering the move toward EVs to replace or add to their fleet of vehicles on the road.
Good for the environment, while also allowing law environment to keep up with everyone else on the road, this will help reduce our reliance on oil companies. And if you just bought that fancy new Tesla and like to speed around thinking no one can catch up to you, think again. Not only can many of these vehicles, including Ford’s F-150 Lightning reach similar speeds and 0-60 specs, but some departments are even buying into Tesla models themselves.
Companies that have had a long-standing relationship with law enforcement over the years are actively trying to push the idea as well. For example, Ford has customized its new Ford F-150 Lightning EV truck into the “Ford F-150 Lightning Pro SSV (Special Service Vehicle)” and it looks pretty good.
So it won’t be long before you see very quiet yet very fast and effective (and efficient) law enforcement vehicles on the road as well. I just hope that, for the sake of budget and tax purposes, these companies aren’t looking to gouge these departments with abnormally high sticker prices.
