It is painful to watch a friend or family member sit there and prod themselves with needles every day, trying to find their current glucose measurement. Even worse, maybe that person is you. It’s quite unfortunate that anyone would have to live with something like that. However, diabetes is one of the most common issues plaguing us. A company by the name “Quantum Operation”, out of Japan, is looking to put an end to this.
Quantum Operation has been working on a watch-style glucose monitor that lives on your wrist and acts similar to a fitness tracker. However, instead of tracking your steps, it is tracking the user’s bloodstream through the skin. No need for sticking needles anywhere or causing any discomfort. Just a simple watch solution that monitors from the wrist.
It will even allow a medical professional to be able to monitor and track the information remotely without having to speak to the patient wearing the tracker each time. This would allow for instant diagnosis and reaction times when needed.
It may sound too good to be true and we won’t know until they start publishing more information on trials. That, or once it has released into the wild and consumers have had a chance to test it for themselves. For now, it has been showcased during CES 2021 showing what the company plans to deliver in the near future.
Hopefully, we’ll be able to see a working product on store shelves that delivers just as promised. Especially if said product is affordable to the masses. I personally know a number of individuals who would be happy to rush to buy one for themselves. It all comes down to how accurate it will be compared to your normal personal blood test solutions.
Right now, it is still in a prototype phase and a specific time of arrival into the market isn’t predicted just yet. So cross those fingers and hope that it makes it. For now, you can learn more about the company via their website here.
