Razer has released a new Nommo Pro 2.1 virtual surround speaker solution for gamers, providing a virtual surround experience (as the name already gives away) in a small 2 speakers + 1 sub package. The new speakers seem to feature a neat design to them that steals a few design ideas from companies like B&W (ie, their Nautilus speakers), and rock an all-black design.
They are of course THX-certified and feature a small circular-shaped controller to adjust them with. Like most of their products, these speakers feature Razer Chroma LEDs, which can be customized with up to 16.8 million color options–in case you feel LEDs help boost your gaming performance.
The only drawback is the Nommo Pro speakers will run you a whopping $499.99, which is a pretty decent chunk of change for a 2.1 solution. We haven’t had a chance to sit down with the Nommo Pro’s just yet, but our immediate impression is that you might want to save a little and up your game some more by going with something like Logitech’s Z906 5.1 speakers. Not only would you be getting three additional channels of sound, but these are also “THX certified”, and at the moment will run you almost half the cost of the Razer speakers. You would simply lose the LEDs if you went that route.
That’s just our two cents though. You might find yourself a bit of a Razer fanboy (or girl), despite it costing you unneeded amounts of cash to build your system. If so, the Nommo Pro speakers are available right now both on and offline at some of your favorite retailers (you can find a link/button below that will take you straight to them).
