One thing that can’t be argued is that Ring has one of the best track records for adding features and integrations into its products. Now, there is another big update you will likely jump at making use of. The ability to Alexa as your personal greeter when someone rings the doorbell.
The new upgrade (called “Alexa Greetings”) allows Alexa to answer the Ring and interact with the person at your door. Quite useful when two-way communication between your phone and doorbell doesn’t always work out half the time (this is usually the same for any video doorbell brand/model).
Alexa will greet the visitor and inquire about their reason for being at the door. If there is a package, she will let them know where to place it (as long as it doesn’t require a signature). For anyone else, it offers the option to leave a video message and more. It’s actually a pretty clever idea and the next step toward having your own personal Jarvis solution.
The only catch is that you will require to have the Ring Pro model as well as a subscription to Ring Protect. All configurations for the new feature can be done via the Ring app (now Alexa) and you should find it pretty straightforward to setup.
It is unfortunate that it requires more than just your normal Ring subscription in order to use the new feature. Ring would make a killing in the market if they allowed all Ring subscribers to have access to features like this.
