Roku announced at CES 2023 (Las Vegas) today that it wanted to move beyond its partnerships with other manufacturers that typically license or rebrand their TVs with Roku’s operating system. Normally, these TVs are manufactured by companies like TCL or RCA.
The company is looking to have a little more say-so in the manufacturing process and there is no better way than doing everything itself. It will handle both the design and manufacturing of the models, giving it full creative control over everything.
This will come in the form of Roku Select and Roku Plus Series TVs, totaling 11 different models that will hit store shelves in the Spring of 2023. They will range between 24 to 75 inches in size and include both 1080p and 4K options. These models will come with Roku Voice Remote or Roku Voice Remote Pro (4K models) controllers and the same Roku experience that users have had throughout the years.
Doing this will allow Roku to extend past its normal sources of profit and create deeper roots in the hardware industry. Extending its profits as well, instead of just depending on the licensing of its software and ad revenue.
As mentioned, availability will begin sometime in Spring 2023. MSRP will range between $119 and $999. Meaning Roku is still dedicated to those looking for a good deal and not breaking the bank. These models will likely be available at most retailers that its partner TVs have been found in thus far.
