NVMe M.2 solutions continue to take the market by storm as prices become more reasonable and capacity begins to slowly catch up to HDD options (slowly…but it’s getting there). With that, manufacturers are in a race to deliver both of these variables with an attractive balance to win over more than just power users and enthusiasts.
Now, Samsung has launched their latest NVMe option, the 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD line, which packs an updated firmware as well as other enhancements to push the limit even further in speed. The new drives can perform at read speeds of up to 3,500 MB/s (megabytes per second) and write speeds of up to 3,300 MB/s, and are available in similar capacities of up to 2TB in size (like the previous 970 EVO). The read speed is comparable to the 970 EVO, however the max write speed of the EVO Plus is over 30% higher than the EVO, marking a wonderfully competitive enhancement.
Pricing starts around $89.99 and works its way up, and the new drives are slowly making their way onto shelves both online and in stores that feature NVMe solutions, with the 2TB version coming later in April.
