A “smart” idea by one of our favorite automation hub makers on the market. Samsung has taken the original Samsung Connect Home mesh solution and combined with their popular SmartThings hub to create an integrated router solution that not only does more, but carries a much better name. This great (sales) move not only provides another mesh solution to the market, but promotes consumers to lean towards Samsung’s very own smart home solution, killing two birds with a single stone
The new mesh solution promises AI-based mesh Wi-Fi technology from the company Plume, hopefully providing a much stabler experience than their Connect Home, with reduced latency and solid connectivity between units. Plume is supposed to help with adapting to your Wi-Fi environment and intelligently allocating bandwidth between devices, so that all members of your home can enjoy a balanced experience regardless of what each member is actively doing (gaming, streaming, browsing, etc).
Also with SmartThings integrated, users will be ready to hit the floor running, adding automation into their home. SmartThings is by far one of the most popular smart home hubs available to the market. It even replaced our long-held love for Vera (who is failing to keep up with the modern age of things). It is compatible with hundreds of devices that you can integrate into your home to help control your lights, cameras, thermostats, doors, plugs, switches and so much more. It is also user-friendly, which some hubs can tend to lack at.
The three-unit SmarthThings Wifi solution can encompass up to 4,500 square feet of space, covering most homes (unless you live in a castle or comparable), and you can add additional units to expand your coverage by 1,500 additional feet with each one. The normal 3-pack retails for $279.99, while the additional units will run you $119.99 each (expanding won’t be cheap for that castle).
The SmartThings Wifi Mesh System is currently rolling out into the market, and you should begin to see it pop up shortly at your favorite retailers within days.
