SanDisk has announced that they will be releasing a 200GB capacity microSD sometime during the second quarter of this year. Not exactly twice the size of the 128GB cards that previously dominated, but it will definitely be more than sufficient for most mobile devices. You may not want to rush out so quickly though, as it will be available for a whopping $399.99, thus only targeting a small niche of consumers.
It will be compatible with any device supporting up to 128GB SDXC (meaning 128 is no longer the roof in such claim). Transfer rate will fall around 90MB/s, rated class 10.
Hopefully by the time they figure out how to make it a solid 256GB card (2x the capacity of 128), they will also figure out how to give these small cards a boost in speed. 90MB/s is fast, but it begins to get slow as the capacity rises.
