NIU is a brand that we have covered in the past at one of the shows where we had discussed who they are and where they were going with their lineup. We didn’t hear much from them since then as they are mostly focused on Europe and East Asia more than anything, but they do seem to be growing in popularity thanks to the demand of going electric with every form of transportation.
Their models are available in the US with multiple options to choose from and feature the common options you’d expect to find with an electric vehicle, without taking things too far into the realm of Scifi (it’s a scooter, not a Tesla).
You get a fully functioning app that gives you data on the battery, as well as GPS, anti-theft capabilities. So you know when you need to recharge, even when you are riding. You always know where it is at all times, and it features vibration sensors in case someone decides to play around with it or run off with it. The app also gives you analytics of your travels so you can look back on it all, updates on any errors it might be experiencing, and more.
The battery can easily be removed so it can be charged elsewhere, which also helps act as an additional theft-deterrent.
I mean, if you are going to hit the streets in a scooter, you might as well go electric and save even more cash (and the environment). The only catch is that they are quite a bit pricey compared to regular motor-driven scooters. You can learn more about NIU via their website here.
