Seagate has decided to camp out on eBay as it looks to offload many of its officially refurbished hard drives (HDD) in a move that could save consumers a lot of money and reduce e-waste. Drive capacities range all over and reach as high as 22TB in size, showing they have a little something for everyone.
As long as you are willing to invest in a refurbished hard drive, this could make for a great sale that could shadow even Amazon’s Prime Day, which is coming next month in July. In some cases, refurbished drives can be a little risky when compared to new ones, but these are officially handled by Seagate directly, increasing the chance that they will offer the best quality performance you can get out of a refurbished product. They even come with a two-year warranty.
You can find a 22TB drive for just $311.99 or a 20TB for $268.99. Or if you aren’t looking for something so big, you can opt for something as small as 10TB for $153.99, making for a decent deal for such a drive. These prices are up to 45% off of their normal retail values.
Refurbished drives can mean anything from stock that required slight repairs to be deemed sellable to a product that was opened and then returned because it wasn’t what someone was looking for. In some cases, the drive might have never been touched by anyone at all and just needed a new box.
Like anything refurbished, there is always the chance that the drive may not offer the same lifespan as a brand-new one. It could be like rolling the dice. However, I have known many who have taken a dive into such an investment to find a drive that lasted just as long as any other. I have also known many who have purchased a brand new drive just to have it fail six months later. Hard drives can be a fickle beast at times.
If I needed the space, I wouldn’t mind giving a 22 TB model a try at these prices. o if you are looking to make an upgrade or simply add space to your media service or anything else, you might just walk away with a win! You can find Seagate’s refurb store here on eBay.
