Things are starting to get a little silly. Then again, sometimes silly can be a lot of fun. Hard to say without trying it out for yourself. Either way, Segway-Ninebot thinks it can one-up the many companies around the world who have been trying to turn “hoverboards” into go-karts with special kits. Why stop at “go-kart” when you add projectiles and dual-joystick controls? With that, you get the Segway-Ninebot Mecha Kit.
A hoverboard turned go-kart, turned recreational combat vehicle. The Mecha Kit is an upgrade kit for a compatible Segway-Ninebot S model to do just this. Compatible models include the Ninebot S (Model: N3M240), Ninebot S Kids (Model: Kids A75C), and the Ninebot S-PRO (Model: N3M260, N3M320). It is something you buy in addition to the scooter itself.
With it, you get user-adjustable RGB under-body lighting and front-shooting laser light that helps you to blind the other player, I mean predict bullet trajectory (it’s actually just dual LED-lit lights on the front). There is a built-in sound system for effects, and the joysticks have built-in sensors so that it won’t operate until you are fully in the seat and gripping both controls.
Then, it fires “water bullets”, allowing you to battle it out with other users (players) and without having to run around and collect any ammo like you would a nerf toy or equivalent. You can even drive it remotely using an app. You can see it all in action in the following video.
It actually looks like a pretty exciting kit if you own one of these scooters already. If you don’t, you do have to consider the cost of everything. The scooter alone will run you around $460-$560 or more and then the Segway-Ninebot Mecha Kit is an additional $599. So, you likely won’t see a bunch of kids riding around on these. Mostly those who come from wealthier households or working adults who know how to have fun (and also likely have a lot of extra spending cash lying around).
Plan on being one of the individuals in your neighborhood with one? They are available right now. You can find the Segway-Ninebot Mecha Kit here on Amazon. Now, hopefully, it will work out better than the “cheapo” kits for the cheap “hoverboards” that are out there. Those are fun until they slip and fall apart while using them. Since Segway-Ninebot has a better reputation for this kind of stuff, we can only assume such issues wouldn’t exist with this.

A bit overpriced imo. Although I do like Segway products. I do have the S and love it a lot. I don’t use it much anymore as I am always having to drag it around in places I can’t be on it since I feel like EVERYWHERE I ever go has banned use of things like this. So sad. I’ll still take mine out once in a while though.
