It looks like SpaceX is looking to obtain a little extra funding on the side through the wonderful world of toys. Both children and collectors worldwide will soon be able to get their hands on SpaceX-themed products in stores.
Mattel (the company behind brands like Barbie, Hot Wheels, and so many other licensed brands) has teamed up with SpaceX to start developing toys that will be made available everywhere. This means that you can get your hands on your very own replica model of the Starship spacecraft.
Of course, you could already get your hands on rare models that have been developed by other smaller companies (usually companies specializing in detailed collectible display models) in limited runs or through unofficial channels (until they get their cease and desist order, at least). However, these options have typically remained quite expensive. So this will open the option up to the rest of the world for an affordable price (assumebly).
Mattel will also manufacture pricier replicas for collectors as well, just like what has been circulating out there thus far. This is no surprise as every company wants to get their fair share of the inflated collectible market.
So the world has a lot to look forward to soon. As for how soon, we don’t quite no just yet. But you can rest assured that Mattel is more than capable of mass producing whatever it wants to, relatively quickly. I know we’ll likely have a model or two kicking around come time.
