Some may have noticed that it didn’t take long for the pre-orders for Microsoft’s new Surface Book laptop to sell out on Microsoft’s website. The ability to pre-order has since come back with the exception of a little of required waiting time.
The Surface Book makes itself unique as a actual laptop that functions as a tablet whereby the screen detaches from the rest of the unit (vs a tablet that attaches to a keyboard to create a makeshift laptop). Obviously I use the term “unique” lightly, but it does take the spotlight as the world begins to call it the Mac Book Pro killer. With a variety of models ranging from about $1500 to a whopping $3200, you have plenty to choose from to best fit your needs, and all models can be easily pre-ordered from the site.
The catch is that this round or pre-orders come with a waiting period as the new units are built and readied to ship out (once the initial batch has already shipped of course). The weight time can be anywhere from 5-8 weeks depending on the model, with the most expensive models being the longest (7-8 weeks).
The original batch of pre-orders will begin shipping on the 26th of this month, assumably with the new waiting list already in production as Microsoft amps up their game. If you’re really lucky, you might just get one before the year’s end.
