T-Mobile has been working on various changes that would result in higher rates for customers, including those still making use of its legacy plans. These changes are starting to take place beginning in April and users are beginning to get notifications and emails relating to such.
For many of these users, they have been getting notices from the company stating that their plans will begin to see a $5 increase (per-line), starting next month. Marking the latest price increase for these plans as the company continues to apply pressure to move into their modern Magenta packages.
If you don’t receive this notification from T-Mobile, you can consider yourself one of those unaffected. But if you do make use of any of the older plans (ie, One, One Plus, etc), you can bet you will get on by end-of-day today.
This increase shouldn’t affect any accounts that are considered “price for life” (of the account or user), so it would benefit you to keep an eye on this. If you start seeing increases there, it would behoove you to reach out to T-Mobile for resolution.
The notification going out states that these plans will continue to “keep all the benefits you currently enjoy, and your rate plan type and bill due date remain the same”. In other words, everything remains the same, except for the price.
T-Mobile has been considered one of the most affordable and flexible options out there. However, lately, it does seem that this is catching up to the company as it aligns itself a little closer to the others. Most likely due to its heavier advertising strategies, such as using big-name celebrities. Thankfully, it is still one of the more affordable options out there ad it offers a solid network in most areas.
