Wait, what does this have to do with tech? The power of apps, that’s what. Apps are what drives Taco Bell’s new delivery service to your door step–well, they power it but DoorDash drives it really. Taco Bell has teamed up with the company DoorDash to offer the option to order your food from your iOS or Android device using DoorDash’s app.
This new service is being tested out at more than 200 Taco Bell locations on the west coast around Los Angeles, San Francisco and Dallas. There is no word on when they plan to expand from there, but Taco Bell has commented that they do plan to bring this service nation-wide in the future.
DoorDash is a tech company based in Palo Alto (CA), recently founded in 2013, that provides delivery solutions for local restaurants that don’t offer the service directly. DoorDash’s delivery fleet currently covers the areas of San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Oakland, Berkeley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Brooklyn, Boston, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Dallas. So you can immediately see that expansion of Taco Bell selection is already possible in the near future and depends on where DoorDash grows from there, unless Taco Bell includes other delivery companies in the deal later on.
Taco Bell estimates that delivery time would fall around 35-45 minutes, which for some people might be a little lengthy to wait just for fast food (“fast” food). However, maybe this will encourage Taco Bell lovers all over to give time management a little more effort, by planning out their munchie patterns a half hour in advance.
We have a Taco Bell we frequent just down the street. So if our great city here is picked up as one of the next guinea pigs, we may have to give it a try. Would you skip a quick drive to have fast food delivered to you? Let us know below in the comments!
