THX, a name that is more than recognizable by just about anyone, has launched its very own USB headphone DAC for computers and mobile devices. It is the new THX Onyx USB DAC/Amp.
The new DAC looks familiar to a number of models like Creative’s SXFI (minus the surround effects). It’s small, it’s mobile, and easily slides away into your pocket for travel. It features USB-C with a USB-C to USB-A adapter for normal USB ports. Allowing you to use it with just about anything from computers to smartphones (USB-C to Lightning adapter would be required for Apple mobile devices, which isn’t included).
It is a THX AAA-78 certified amp that features an ESS ES9281PRO DAC inside with Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) support. Dedicated to enhancing whatever you are listening to. It supports up to 180 mW of output power that can drive headphone impedances of up to 10000 Ohms (additional specs available below). It is capable of playback support of up to 32-bit 384kHz (PCM), DSD128, and MQA unfolding up to 384kHz. It can, of course, also be used as an output for stereo speakers as well (not limited to headphones).
The new DAC is available right now for an MSRP of $199.99 and can be found via Razer (buttons/links just below).
