If you were ever a fan of V-Moda’s M-200 wired headphones, you will likely be tempted to try out the new V-Moda M-200 ANC Headphones. The new model brings a number of upgrades to the already popular M-200’s that adds yet another formidable ANC solution to the market.
The original M-200 model competed well against options like the Audio-Technica’s M50x. A wired pair of headphones that brought a lot of attention to V-Moda’s line. A line we have been fans of for a while now since we got our hands on a pair of V-Moda XS headphones some time ago. In fact, it was a common choice for some of our mobile camera crews roaming show floors for quite some time due to quality and durability.
Now, V-Moda has taken the headphones wireless and added active noise canceling (ANC). Clearly looking to compete against brands like Bose and Sony.
This includes a new V-Moda app that allows you to control various settings that include multiple EQ presets and user customizations. It also allows the user to switch between 10 levels of noise cancelation (far beyond the average 1-3 levels you typically get with a pair of headphones). This sounds like an interesting way of balancing ANC effects and the quality of audio your ears are looking for (since ANC does cause a subtle white noise in the mix).
“We’re thrilled to be introducing our customers to a brand-new kind of ANC headphone where they can fully customize their listening experience, as well as the physical build and design of the headphones they’re wearing.” — Luca Bolognesi, VP of Marketing Technology (V-MODA)
V-Moda promises up to 20 hours of use, with ANC turned on. Along with a number of other features (specs available below).
Like some of their other models (and similar to something beyer-dynamics offers on some of their models), V-Moda gives the user the option of customizing the decorative shield on the back-side of each muff. They don’t include multiple options with the headphones, so it would require an additional purchase. However, the user can opt to have the shields laser etched with their own logo. As for the price tag, that will likely be a little high for some, we’re sure (so most users will likely be just fine with the shield that the headphones come with).
You can also buy into an optional boom mic or a wired cable with a built-in mic and multi-functioning button. Both of which are also not included. An interesting choice for this price point since manufacturers tend to stuff models with adapters/cables when you hit this price and higher.
The new V-Moda M-200 ANC headphones are available right now at an MSRP of $499.
