This drive is a great option for those running their own media server or simply need a massive backup solution. You could also hook it to your Xbox One and load every game in your library and then some (not so much Xbox Series X since you’d want something quite a bit faster).
All of this for just $199, which seems to be the best window of opportunity for this model. It has fallen to this price a number of times due to the popularity of the sale, beginning with just before Back Friday and then a few more times after.
We have a number of these we use ourselves for various backup tasks around the office (we have a lot of drives and a lot of backup needs). So far, we haven’t had any reasons not to continue adding more to our collection. It isn’t the fastest drive, so if speed is a heavy requirement, you may want to keep to the WD_Black edition models (of course, they are a bit more expensive too).
