Wi-Fi 7 is the next generation of wireless technology that is currently in development. It is expected to offer even faster speeds and improved performance compared to the current Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard.
One of the key features of Wi-Fi 7 is its use of advanced beamforming technology. This technology allows Wi-Fi 7 routers to focus their signals in specific directions, rather than broadcasting in all directions like current Wi-Fi routers. This not only improves the overall range of the Wi-Fi network, but it also reduces interference and improves the reliability of the connection.
In addition to its increased speed and improved performance, Wi-Fi 7 is also expected to be more power-efficient than previous versions of Wi-Fi. This would be particularly beneficial for portable devices such as laptops and smartphones, which would be able to run for longer on a single battery charge.
But the benefits of Wi-Fi 7 don’t stop there. It is also expected to offer improved security features, thanks to the use of advanced encryption techniques. This would make it more difficult for hackers to access Wi-Fi 7 networks and steal sensitive information.
Additionally, Wi-Fi 7 is expected to support a wider range of frequencies than previous versions of Wi-Fi. This would allow it to operate in a variety of different environments, including crowded urban areas and rural locations with limited wireless infrastructure.
Wi-Fi 7 is also expected to be able to handle a much larger number of devices simultaneously than current Wi-Fi standards. This would be especially useful in crowded areas such as airports and public squares, where many people are trying to connect to the internet at the same time.
Another potential benefit of Wi-Fi 7 is its ability to support new applications and technologies that are not currently possible with current Wi-Fi standards. For example, it could be used to support virtual and augmented reality technologies, as well as the Internet of Things (IoT) and other emerging technologies.

In addition to these benefits, Wi-Fi 7 is also expected to be more affordable than previous versions of Wi-Fi. This is because it would use less power and require fewer devices to achieve the same level of performance, which would lower the overall cost of implementing and maintaining Wi-Fi 7 networks.
Wi-Fi 7 promises to be a major advancement in wireless technology. It is expected to offer faster speeds, improved performance, better security, and wider frequency support compared to current Wi-Fi standards. It would also be more power-efficient and affordable, making it an attractive option for both consumers and businesses.
While Wi-Fi 7 is still in development and not yet available, it has the potential to greatly improve the way we connect to the internet and use wireless devices. It could support a wider range of applications and technologies, as well as handle a larger number of devices simultaneously without sacrificing performance.
Update 01/2023: Although it isn’t quite available just yet, the first generation models are already prepping for release, beginning (at earliest) toward the end of this year. TP-Link is already looking to get ahead of the game by taking pre-orders on its upcoming flagship router. We were able to see what the general design of the unit will look like at CES 2023 (see video below).
Like anything else, as Wi-Fi 7 technology becomes more advanced and is eventually standardized, it is likely that we will see more and more devices with Wi-Fi 7 capabilities. This could include laptops, smartphones, smart home devices, and other wireless devices.
So Wi-Fi 7 has the potential to be a major advancement in wireless technology. It offers faster speeds, improved performance, more stability, and will provide a much better experience for the user all around.
