Microsoft has finally announced a release date for the new Windows 10 and that date is going to be the 29th of next month. Currently there is no announcements for Xbox or other accompanying hardware (ie, HoloLens), but 10 for PCs and laptops will be rolling out everywhere on that date. Windows Phone 10 will not be part of this roll-out, but it is expected to be seen in the coming months.
Currently, Microsoft is rolling out the option to “pre-signup” for the free upgrade to 10. You can see if you are one of the selected users by taking a look at your system tray (notification area on your start bar to the right with your clock and volume settings). If you have currently been given a chance to sign up, you will see a small Windows icon you can click on. Once signed up, it says the update will automatically download once it is ready/available.
From what we have seen so far, only three systems (here) have received the icon. All three systems are currently running Windows 7, and there is no activity on the Windows 8.1 systems yet.
