Rumors have been circling that Microsoft plans to announce Android app support in their new Windows 10 OS. If such rumors are true, this announcement will be made at Microsoft’s Build 2015 developer conference in San Francisco, this week.
Microsoft has been considering this option for some time now, and it appears they may be ready to finally make it happen. The rumor was leaked by Microsoft journalist Paul Thurrott, who has delivered many stories in the past using his contacts inside Microsoft itself.
If Microsoft does decide to allow for Android app support, this may prove to be a solid strategy they need to make a better impact on the market. Over the last 2 years, Windows Phones and tablets have been seeing their largest growth in the market share of mobile devices. However, their position is still small in comparison to Android and iOS. There is no doubt that this improvement will help solve that.
Consumers who already have a Windows Phone that will be supported by Windows 10 when it releases, will find this to be one of the largest improvements they have seen since the step from Windows Mobile to Windows Phone.
There is no mention yet on how such apps will be available for download, but we are sure this will be covered in Microsoft’s announcements this week–if they decide to make the move.
