Microsoft announced that some of your favorite games on the Xbox One will carry over to the new Xbox Series X console with enhanced graphics that are optimized for the new console thanks to the new “Smart Delivery” feature.
When you install one of your Xbox One games on the new console, it will automatically determine if there is a version of that game that is optimized for Xbox Series X, and then it will install that version–upgrading the quality of that game from what it originally was on the Xbox One console. It’s like getting your hands on a bunch of “remake” or “enhanced” versions of your favorite games, without having to buy them all over again.
The new feature will support a limited number of games that take advantage of the option. So only the games who’s developers decided to jump on board will be affected. Some of these include Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Cyberpunk 2077, Gears 5, Halo Infinite, and more. All of the Xbox Game Studios titles will be supported.
Smart Delivery will also pull all of your game saves you had from your previous Xbox One console and download them to the Xbox Series X so that you can continue where you left off.
The Xbox Series X console will, of course, also feature backward compatibility with all of your favorite Xbox One games supported. It will also include support for any Xbox or Xbox 360 game that was also supported on the Xbox One consoles (limited to the Xbox One backward compatibility list).
All of this is an incredibly smart move on Microsoft’s part when it comes to trying to win the next chapter in console wars.
