Now before you start with the whole “well, that’s just your opinion!”, it is important to note that this hails from an internal survey that has been running its course for a number of weeks now. At points, it got very heated and many things were thrown about in the air. Actually, that last part was a lie. The survey was real though and it was picked apart thanks to a comment section that was offered and the end result was Amazon Fire Stick takes the win.
So, it is no surprise to see that the Amazon Fire Stick is the number one selling product on Amazon. Specifically, the Fire TV Stick 4K edition that seems to be holding this spot. Although the “All-new Fire TV Stick” (a non-4K edition) that came out late last year is hot on its heels thanks to the amazing price you can snag it for (just $29).
There are a number of things that have allowed it to take top rank.
Software/Interface
Amazon has updated the software, leading to a much nicer interface than they had before. It’s much more fluid and quick to find what you are looking for. From all of your favorite apps, available right at the top/front of the experience, to the speed of being able to zip around quickly.
The interface simply feels refreshing. So is the ability to jump in and out of apps quickly while not exactly losing your place, as you can typically hit back to go right back to where you were in the previous app. Then there is voice.
Voice Control
The voice control on the Fire TV Stick feels incredibly friendly. Most of the comments that were provided with the survey here mentioned positive experiences while entertaining guests. Being able to jump quickly between apps like Netflix and Plex, and then immediately use a voice command to blast your way right into a YouTube video someone was talking about (“you mean, this one?” *poof*). Like quickly being able to jump to a specific music video, or your favorite Viva La Dirt League clip.
Speed
Technically, I already covered the topic of speed within the software section. However, it was worth pointing out on its own as well since it was so commonly highlighted by, well, everyone. The All-new Fire TV Stick and the Fire TV Stick 4K are the fasted models that have ever existed (thus far). The speed of the interface is fantastic from manual remote control, to voice, to waiting for an app to open.
The All-new Fire TV Stick (non-4K) is also 50% faster than the previous-gen model that came before it. It features a MediaTek MT8695D quad-core processor. This is likely why it caught up to the 4K model so successfully.
Alexa
I don’t think there is much to be said here. It has Alexa built-in, allowing you access to everything else in your smart home ecosystem that supports the digital assistant. That, and this is why the voice search/control is so wickedly smooth. So you also get another Alexa device for your home by going with the Fire TV Sticks.
User-Friendliness
It was rated #1 for user-friendliness due to all of the above points. It’s snappy and everything looks great. You can quickly bounce around to and from just about anything. It’s just one of those things you pick up and it simply works and works well. Enough that your friends will likely quietly go buy their own.
Conclusion
It’s the best. It’s the best among all of the opinions here, and it’s the number one selling item on Amazon With a 4.8 out of 5 (score) too. That’s like getting a 9.5 out of 10 from us (which does not happen often as we can get very obsessed in our reviews. However, it appears that we can all agree (here) that it very much deserves the score and rank it has on Amazon. Given, if they didn’t update the interface as they did, we might have waivered ever-so-slightly. Thankfully, Amazon delivered and updated everything in all the best ways. We look forward to seeing what the next 4K stick will look like.
