Today I’m in the Listening Room enjoying a pair of TIN T2 Pro HiFi Dual Dynamic in-ear headphones. Last week the team was at CES and we spoke with quite a few earphone and earbud manufacturers from entry-level earbuds to top-end true (TWS) wireless earbuds with over 70 ft of BT range. The biggest complaint we heard from our contacts was “no one speaks about audio quality when reviewing these types of items”. We here at Poc Network care about our readers and will always emphasize the audio quality, or lack thereof, we hear in the devices we get in our hands.
That being said, let’s take a look:
Out of the Box
The TIN T2 Pro in-ear headphones are an upgraded version of the TIN T2 in-ear headphones with improved balanced sound with an emphasis on treble reinforcement. The headphones are packaged in a small box which looks like a book. Contained within are the TIN T2 ear pieces, a 1.2 m MMCX Cable, and pre-installed memory foam eartips. If you don’t like how those eartips feel, the folks at TIN included two more sets of eartips: Small, medium, and large in black foam, and gray silicone sets in XS, Small, Medium, Large and Extra large. There are indeed plenty of options to find the perfect fit. I was able to easily change the blue memory foam tips for a small pair of silicone eartips for a great fit and improved external noise rejection. The TIN T2 headphones come disassembled: the right earpiece has a red collar where the silver plated MMCX cable snaps into place and the left earpiece has a blue collar. The ends of the MMCX cable are clearly labelled R or L for right and left. Push firmly to seat the MMCX cable. It will SNAP when it’s properly seated. The other end is the ubiquitous 3.5 mm jack, and since this set of in-ear headphones is specifically for music enjoyment, there is no option for a phone type cable. There is also a clear bead on the MMCX cable to allow you to adjust your comfort at your neck level.
Balanced Plus Treble
TIN upgraded the T2 Dual Dynamic Driver in-ear headphones to enhance the balanced audio with a bit of a high-end boost. I spent a couple of days listening to these earbuds in different environments, and with my usual mix of Pop, Rock, Alternative, R and B, Jazz, and Classical music as well as some pretty heavy metal and low-end heavy House music. The TIN T2s offer a very smooth low-end balanced with a great clarity in the mid-range. But it’s in the treble enhancement where these earbuds really demonstrate their strength. Crispy finger snaps, Hand claps, tight sizzle from high hats, and soaring violins were making my face hurt from all the smiling. The T2 Pro by TIN have great stereo separation and really hit all the highs, and lows. I normally listen to Flat Response headphones in my professional career so I really noticed the enhanced highs while enjoying the balanced mids and low-end. The TIN T2 Pro in-ear headphones look good, sound good, and are comfortable enough to wear all day no matter if you love Rock, Jazz, or R n B and Rap. The low-end is definitely present in any variety of music I enjoyed yet not crushing. I put the TIN T2 Pro into my test bench to check the frequency response with pure tones and frequency sweeps. I noticed that although the earbuds were able to reproduce sine waves below 40 Hz, that was in my opinion the limit of low-end musical reproduction. Remember: these devices are meant to be put directly into your ear canals so be careful with volume levels. Directly plugged in headphones like these can definitely get too loud and the TIN T2 are no exception. I didn’t notice any great distortion until the T2 earbuds were at max volume for most devices.
The new and improved TIN T2 Pro Dual Dynamic Hifi In-ear Headphones have put high quality audio reproduction into the hands of an entry-level audiophile. The sharp-looking grey metal housing contains two Dynamic drivers with obvious treble enhancement but plenty of low-end and mid tones. I found them to be clear and crispy on the high-end while still giving a low-end thump. To be honest: a true metal head would probably love the TIN T2 Pro in-ear headphones better than anyone else. They really perform in that dirty mid-range level with a smooth low-end and crispy high-end. 8.5 out of 10. Can’t wait to hear the next great product from TIN.
