Most action cameras pretty much cover similar grounds with regular or fisheye views but Kodak feels that isn’t creative enough. Instead, they design the PIXPRO SP360 camera, and action cam that can shoot in multiple modes that cover everything from that typical fisheye view to panoramas, spherical and more.
The modes it supports are Ring, Dome, Front Degree/Rear 180 Degree, 360 Degree Panorama, and Globe. Most of which you’re not going to want for your everyday family videos unless you are quite the artistic family member. These unique views offer a completely different approach to action videography, and open doors to certain filming opportunities. Switch between modes and capture all sorts of content to wow your viewers with.

The above video really says it all. From skydiving to underwater adventures, snowboarding and so much more. The most interesting feature is the ability to view your videos in 360-degrees. You could have all sorts of fun with this by allowing your friends to get a true first person view of something you achieved. Like cartwheeling down the side of a snowy mountain gently hugged by a massive avalanche–or a simple snorkel dive to look at a small school of fish (take your pick).
Out of the box, the SP360 is IP6X rated which means it can withstand shock, freeze, dust and splashes of water. Just like any other action camera, it comes with a large amount of accessories to choose from (additional purchase) that allow you to do more. Straps, mounts and waterproof enclosures, they have everything you need to take it with you on the road.
It can shoot up to 1080p at 30fps. So no 4K with Kodak just yet, or 60fps unless you dial it down to 720p. It offers all sorts of resolutions in between and lower, including 120fps at 848×480 (which would be for things like mobile messaging and social networks since you won’t get any professional or high quality results with that). The image sensor is 16MP (Megapixels), which should get you brilliant images with.
WiFi is supported along with NFC so that you can pair it with your smartphone. Once this has been done, you can use the PIXPRO Remote Viewer app to control the various functions of the camera. The app is available for both Android and iOS devices.
It can be found mostly online via a number of outlets such as Amazon and retails for around $259-299 on average (at the time of this article).
