Here is something completely new. We seem to be on an odd direction as of late with these exclusive stories on smartphone cases, but hang in there because this case isn’t just a case. This also falls into the category of “smart accessory”, because it does more than just protect your iPhone.
The SkyToyz Glo interacts with your iPhone by putting on an LED light show every time you receive a call, text, email and more. How’s that for something new? There are plenty of cases on the market (an understatement). However, it’s not often one catches our eye as being both “unique” and “creative”.
The case works by interacting to the LED on the iPhone when receiving notifications. The LED triggers the case interaction, and a light show results. This means there is no pairing required or any other wireless connection between the phone and the case. That allows you to cut out the need of sacrificing your battery just for a fun new effect.
It has its own built-in battery that can supposedly last up to 6 weeks on a single charge. There is no sound involved (obviously), so it can extend your silent notification options and allow you to be notified from a distance while the phone is in silence (where normally you may miss such notification if you’re not near to hear that slight resonation of the vibrator mechannism upon the surface in which is sits).
These effects can be switched on or off to preserve the battery of the case or to prevent it from showing off in the wrong environments (sometimes its best not to be too “flashy”).
There is also a window on the back so that you can light up either the logo of the phone or a custom logo of your choice. By default, the case comes with the SkyToyz Glo logo, but it can be peeled off to reveal the Apple logo on the phone. You can also print the logo of your choice and place it in the window, or you can contact SkyToyz with your artwork where you can have a an insert printed for you as well (as a service).
At the moment, the only phone supported is the iPhone 5 and 5s, but models are right around the corner for the iPhone 6 (and plus) devices. They are also actively working on new models for all the favorite Android phones as well.
In the future, you will also be able to downloads apps that will allow you to customize the lightshow of the case. No further details are available at this time, but it sounds like a great added feature to look forward to.
