Abode has been slowly expanding on the products it has to offer within its smart home ecosystem. The iota smart hub came out in 2019 offering an all-in-one solution with a hub, security camera, and speaker, built into one unit. It had a few other products like a door sensor that can be paired as well, but its biggest strength is the support for Z-Wave, Zigbee, and more.
Since then, the company has launched new 1080p security cameras, as well as a number of other products. And now, they are back with more. This month, Abode has added new smart bulbs and a video doorbell to the list. Designed to work as standalone products (no hub) using the Abode app, or with the company’s iota hub for extended control/features. Both work with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
The Abode Color Bulbs sell in two-packs for just $29.99 and are already in the market. They feature 800 lumens of light and all of the features you’d expect from a smart light bulb. Again, they can be controlled via the app or using the company’s hub for total ecosystem immersion. You should see them rolling out to retailers that sell Abode products shortly, as well as the company’s website.
The new Abode Wireless Video doorbell will be launching a little later (April 2022) with an MSRP of $79.99. The exact resolution isn’t depicted by numbers, but their tech specs do mention Full HD, thus it should be 1080p. It offers a 160 degree field of view (FOV), IP65 rating (waterproof), and up to 6 months battery life. Many of the other features you’d expect to find in a doorbell seem to be supported as well, including full color night vision, two-way talk, and person detection.
