Audeze has recently announced the release of a new audiophile model of headphones targeting gamers and listeners alike, launching into the market next month. Their new model is the LCD-GX headphones with a detachable microphone. They originally debuted at High End Munich 2019 last month (in, as you can guess, Munich Germany) where they were shown off and demoed to attendees.
It isn’t easy making a claim like “audiophile” and being able to back it up, but Audeze has the kind of reputation to do it. The new headphones are an open-back style featuring large planar magnetic drivers, perfect for getting deep sound from all of your favorite games (and of course movies, music, mixing and more). They are hand-crafted in California with magnesium housing and weight-reducing suspension headband.
The detachable mic features a gooseneck design to help adjust to the unique contour of your face and promises to deliver crisp/clear audio to those you are gaming with. They also include a foam pop filter if you have too many issues with your P’s and B’s (or you are gaming within a windy environment for whatever reason). You can easily remove it for when you just want to listen to music, and the mic can be muted via an in-line button. A standard cable is provided for when you do not need the microphone.
If they sound as good as they do in words, they should be another formidable additional to the audiophile world, and a popular option for serious gamers. I say serious because it comes at a true audiophile price.
It will be launching/shipping next month (July 2019) for $899.
