Bose has announced a new pair of earbuds that are quite different from what you might expect. Perfect for working out since they will allow you to hear the sound around you without having to resort to bone conduction models for the effect. This means better sound, better safety for you and your surroundings, and better comfort. It’s the new Bose Sport Open Earbuds.
It’s no surprise to see this coming from Bose. They are one of the leading companies when it comes to unique audio delivery technologies for consumers–like the Bose Wave series speakers. So how does this wonderful new design work?
It’s based on Bose’s “OpenAudio” (™) technology with an open-ear design, which allows you to experience your music without having to shove the earbud into your ear canal. Instead, it rests gently outside of your ear, projecting in. This allows you to hear your music while still being to hear the world around you. So if you are out for a jog and someone wants to let you know they are approaching from the left, you’ll hear it. Or if a car horn or siren goes off. Or someone simply wants to start a conversation. You’ll be able to hear it all without sacrificing the quality of sound.
This makes for quite an interesting design. One we can’t wait to listen to ourselves to experience what the sound quality is really like. Unlike bone conduction models, which allow you to hear everything around you, but at the loss of hearing a full-range of sound from your headphones.
They will be shipping later this month for an MSRP of $199.95 and are currently available for pre-order (we have provided a button here to take you right to them).
