Roku has hinted to the upcoming software update and now the feature has reached the spotlight. The update affects both the Roku 3 and Roku Streaming Stick.
The new feature supports just about any Android or Windows 8.1 device (as well as the few Windows Phones that currently support Miracast), and is currently in beta until any unforeseen bugs are squashed and forgotten variables added. It allows you to stream the screen of your device to any Roku (3 or Stick) connected TV, so that you can share videos, photos, music, websites and whatever else you may be up to.
By default, the setting is disabled within the Roku and you have to enable it within settings. Then you simply visit your devices setting that allows you to share your screen. Android refers to it as “Cast Screen” in the settings, Windows Phone as “Project My Screen” and on Windows 8.1 devices you simply have to add the Roku by visiting “PC and Devices”.

Hello, I am not sure if I am on the right place to ask for this. I purchased the Roku 3 and it doesn’t want to use miroring with my Samsung galaxy tab S, and it does work with my girl friend tab 4. Is there a way to get that to work?
Other question, is it possible to use miroring without the wifi, example to connect on a screen while doing a presentation with my tab S in a place where it is not my net, using the wifi directly from my tablet to the Roku ?
Thank you in advance, sincerely Marc
Sadly at the moment, we do not have everyone needed on-site to re-produce your situation.
As for the Wifi question, unless the Roku (or any device) could broadcast its own network, you will not be able to connect directly with it. Most WiFi devices support connection with other devices on the same network provided by an external router. This is the same for the Roku.
The only other way to connect directly with a device would be through Bluetooth, which it does not support. The Roku actually does produce a Bluetooth signal, but it is solely for the remote that comes with it.
To fully get a resolution to your question, you will have to contact Roku to see if they have experienced issues with the Tab S. They may have a solution. 🙂
