PlayStation fans have been patiently waiting for the new PlayStation VR2 (aka PS VR2) since it was announced. The original headset being one of the most popular options out there thanks to its enhanced display (tricking the eyes to perceive it as a slightly higher resolution than it really was). No doubt, the new one is going to look pretty good, especially since it is designed around the PS5 console.
Now, Sony has released, via its blog, what the new design is going to look like (seen above). The company says the design was inspired by the PS5 and features an orb-like theme that represents the level of immersion that VR has to offer users.

The PS VR2 is all about slimming things down and lighter weight. Leading to a comfortable and immersive experience. Both the band and the lens are adjustable. The new sense controllers take on a whole new look compared to the original headset while looking a tad familiar to Oculus controllers (just a tad).
You get a number of other enhancements with the new headset, including twice the resolution with 2000×2040 pixels in each eye and a slightly larger field of view (FOV). It’s still OLED and 120Hz, thus with everything combined, this should be both comfortable and immersive.
It isn’t as fancy as the other 8K headset that Sony hinted to back in December (still in development), but it does sound like it has a lot of promise. We can’t wait to see what it looks like paired with a PS5. It still doesn’t have a release date (sometime this year) nor any pricing information, just yet.
