Hyundai has started taking orders for the upcoming Genesis GV60 that will begin to roll out later this year once it begins manufacturing them. The new EV will be coming in two different options, which will be “Performance” and “Advanced”, with the latter of the two being the upgrade to the other.
The company is promising a number of neat features, including facial recognition and biometric security that can be used to restrict access to the vehicle. Saved user preferences that can automatically adjust throughout the car depending on the driver behind the wheel. As well as speakers and support for both Android and Apple’s driving interfaces (and really cool looking rims).
Like many of the companies launching new EV models this year, the mileage isn’t much to brag about, sadly. You will be looking at between 235 and 248 miles per charge depending on which of the two models you choose. So it won’t be stacking up to some of the Tesla models when it comes to range, which is too bad based on the starting price. That price bring nearly $59K, working its way $69K and beyond depending on any optional upgrades.
Thankfully, it is better than some of the initial models to roll out from companies like Chevrolet, though. So it isn’t all that bad (baby steps). While it won’t be in the top list for mileage, the company does seem to be committing a lot of effort toward the rest of the tech within the vehicle (which is a good sign).
As mentioned, they won’t start rolling off the factory line until the end of the year. They are also limiting sales to only a few states at this time (California, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York). Eventually, they will become available at dealerships in other states once production ramps up.
