Gaming with headphones via console has never been as much fun as it has been since Xbox brought technologies like Dolby Atmos for headphones into the mix, allowing you to achieve virtual surround with virtually any pair of headphones. With that, you have such a wide selection of fantastic models to choose from within the market that pair well with the console. And now, you have yet another possible contestant with Microsoft’s new Xbox Wireless Headset.
Microsoft officially launched the new headset today, which can be found via the Xbox online store. They claim to have consulted with a number of engineers and other industry professionals to make it happen, so hopefully, it sounds as good as, well, it sounds in words.
It offers all of the options you’d expect to find in a gaming headset, including voice isolation (environmental noise cancelation), auto mute, an adjustable microphone, and controls to balance both in-game and chat audio. All of this, with up to 15 hours of battery life, should get you through any gaming session no matter how obsessed you are with the game you are playing (you have to come up for air eventually). The new headset is Bluetooth, so it will support your mobile devices as well.
The current MSRP for the Xbox Wireless Headset is just $99.99, which puts it in a very competitive range with other popular brands like Turtle Beach, Razer, and Logitech. Currently, it is only available via the Xbox Store, but you should likely see it roll out to other retailers in the coming days.
