In a continued effort to keep a hold of the handheld gaming market, Nintendo has dropped the price of their 2DS handheld gaming system from $130 to $100. The 2DS is a non-3D version of Nintendo’s selection of mobile systems that sports two screens without flipping closed with a clam shell-type design. It has sold at a successful rate since its release back in October of 2013 and now they aim to continue those numbers into Christmas as the holidays slowly approach.
Personally, like the Wii-U, I never understood the bulkier design approach since the whole point of a mobile gaming system is…mobility. Given, the Wii-U isn’t a mobile system, but the controller is out-of-this-world bulky. Yet both systems continue to sell in high numbers. This proves there is a niche for it and the niche is enjoying their decision to invest into the 2DS and Nintendo does have quite the selection of games to keep you (or your kids most likely) busy with.
It may take a few days for other retailers to adjust their prices and some 3rd party marketplace type sellers may not choose to compete with the new price as we have seen already. However, you can rest assured that you will be able to find one at a price you can’t argue with no matter where you go.
