NVMe continues to have a heavy impact on the computer industry as speeds continue to rise, casting an incredible shadow upon regular spinning hard drives. Now that they are so readily available and have come closer to the price of a SATA SSD (based on capacity), they are more in-demand than ever. With that, comes the many ways that you can make use of NVMe, including externally.
There have been many USB 3.0/3.1 solutions, but most of your Thunderbolt 3 (TB3) options involved larger solutions like OWC’s TB3 Express 4M2 enclosure. However, you need something smaller when it comes to using NVMe while you are mobile, and now OWC has you covered there as well with their new Thunderbolt 3 Envoy Express Enclosure.
Similar to the size of most USB 3.0/3.1 options, the new enclosure would slide easily into your pocket or whatever case you have a laptop tucked away in. You just insert an NVMe drive into it and plug it into your system using a TB3-supported port.
You are limited to the bus-speed of the enclosure more so than the drive being used inside, so the max transfer speed is going to be capped at 1553MB/s, but this is still better than any external SATA enclosure, as well as most USB NVMe options.

It comes with a 10″ TB3 cable to run in between the enclosure and your computer and they even includes a mount so it can slide onto the back of your laptop screen so it can easily ride with you if you pick up the laptop and run with it.
MSRP is going to be around $79.99, however, you can pre-order one now for $68 from their website.
