It looks like another entry has been entered into the world of multi-driver in-ear solutions, with Razer’s latest Hammerhead Duo buds.
The new earbuds are making their way into the world somewhere around 2nd quarter, and split audio between a dynamic driver (lows) and a balanced armature driver (highs) in each ear, allowing for a much wider range of sound.
It looks like they are aiming to keep a small profile and weight, while providing an aluminum body and braided cables for each bud for added durability. It contains an in-line remote with your familiar control layout and a normal TRRS connection (both audio and microphone for taking calls with).
Multi-driver buds are becoming a hot topic for consumers as brands like 1MORE and FiiO and more have helped to raise awareness by releasing solutions that fall within a consumer affordable range, and blowing away the single-driver competition in most cases. Now, we see brands popping up all over that have added multi-driver to their catalog to continue this trend with.
Although we haven’t had a chance to listen to them personally, Razer does uphold a pretty solid reputation with their products.
As mentioned, they will be shipping sometime during the 2nd quarter of 2019. Their MSRP is $59.99, making it a decent price point for a dual-driver solution. You can already find them listed on places like Amazon where you can sneak in your order and be one of the first to get one when they ship. A Nintendo Switch version of the buds will also be made available at a later date.
